Speaker icon on Notification area

The speaker icon in my notification area has "vanished". I have looked in help and cannot find the solution to get it back. Anybody know how to recover it? I am running Vista. All the other icons are OK and work when selected.

go to >control panel > multimedia > and put check in show volume in taskbar

Have you got Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio devices?
First panel = show vol control in Task Bar

Thanks Wak - problem now sorted. All I have to do now is to figure out how I managed to delete it in the first place- but that is for another day.
