Hib... I am trying to install the Orange gigasetSe572 Router/modem to my pc via an ethernet cable.

After the initial couple of screens from the CD comes the error "Error 806 - something's wrong, we can't detect the router"

It's just an ethernet cable from the router/modem to the pc! so why can't it connect.? Is there something I should do to allow the ethernet to become enabled or is it something wrong with my PC?

I followed the instructions to the letter but nothing will convince it to carry on with the set up.

It did say cut out the firewall I had running but that did nothing to help.

I really didn't want to spend 50p a minute with Orange.

Thanks for your help...
