Red pixellation on screen

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and have recently noticed some red , horizontal , lines/dashes on the screen. Is there a way to get rid of these or am I stuck with them?

It happens occasionally, I've seen several like it.

Normally there is nothing that can be done about it as it's a fault in the panel itself, occasionally it is caused by a bad connection though and in those cases stripping the display assembly and simply remaking all the connections can cure it.

Are they there all the time or only with some applications? Do they appear immediately you switch on or come later after machine has been on a while?
Sounds like the screen is on the way out to me.

hi scotman. thanks for reply. they appear mostly on photos and videos on applications such as facebook. they are there as soon as machine is turned on though. also some occur on the desktop too. seems to occur on photos etc where they should be black. many thanks.

I have the same problem with a Dell laptop. I want to connect it to another laptop to transfer files I want but it hasn't got a network port. Can I connect them via the usb ports and if so where can I get a suitable cable?
