Brazil are definitely through to the next round and Portugal are virtually there too because of their goal difference.

Will they play competitively or just go through the motions? Do Portugal have the personal pride to go for the win?

non know how the others will play though Ivory Coast may score lots of goal, highly unlikely but they never know. So I think will be a good game to watch.

probably back pedal a bit and save themselves. It seems that is the way these days. ronaldo will have a rest because he's the only really class player
for portugal i mean!
as if he is, I dont think he was that great last game, yer he scored one but took him long enough

Will either team care whether they meet Spain or Chile next?
are you saying that Ronaldo isn't a class player then 4get ?
both will want to avoid Spain
no but he's not the 'only' really class player
I think they will be less worried about spain than they would have been at the start of the tournament, Wouldn't be at all bothered if portugal went out, Can't stand Ronaldo........think he's a sly little creep for all his skill
Question Author
Yes Portugal going out would be good because of you know who but it's going to take a swing of at least 9 in the goal difference from both games for Ivory Coast to go through instead.
Think it will be a competitive match,Brazil v Portugal has a history of bad blood.
It's a bit like saying Scotland v England would just go through the motions.
2-0 Brazil,Ronaldo sent off.

but these johnny foreigners don't play cricket, unlike our triumphant team stuffing the aussies yet again
They'll both want to win the group to go into the half of the draw that avoids Argentina and Germany. Because they're playing first this afternoon, they won't know which half of the draw Spain will be in, so they'll have to go for broke.
In Group G, unless the Ivory Coast can beat North Korea something like 10-0, then Portugal will be definitely through to the Last 16 regardless of their result with Brazil who are of course already there.

But because Group H is still wide open, perm any 2 of that 4 as to who will qualify for the Last 16. Even Chile, presently leading with 6 points, aren't guaranteed to get through, particularly if Spain, say, beat them by a couple of goals, and if Switzerland were to thrash Honduras in the other game. Spain and Switzerland would go through.

On the other hand, were Chile to hammer Spain, and Honduras beat the Swiss, say 4-1, then Chile and Honduras would qualify.

Good, eh?
