I am currently going through a prostate problem, the hospital appear to be rushing everything which has made me a little concerned, I wont lie.

When these things come along I suppose we do all ponder the thoughts of our death.
As an atheist I have nothing to fear in death, the end is the end, I will be no more, end of, the parrot is deceased etc.

However! if I was a believer I would have to consider, would I go to heaven or hell?
I know a great many Christians as most of us do. Many of them are very pleasant and a fair few are vile untrustworthy and truly unpleasant people. Will they consider their place after death I wonder. Of course, most religious people feel they are going to meet up with dead friends, loved ones and relatives etc, have they ever considered that many of their loved ones may have gone to hell!
I think If I did believe in heaven or hell, it could be a very worrying time, whilst I have been a fairly decent person in my adult years, I dont know it that would make me worthy of a place in heaven?
What are your thoughts. Personally i'm glad as hell I dont believe in such tripe!!

Does life, in some form, survive death? I don’t know – but I can understand why the notion of meeting loved ones again is comforting. That said, if life in some form does survive death I suspect it’s a natural process rather than a religious one and therefore applies to all, regardless of belief, culture, or anything else. The concept of 'sin' and the...

//As a Christian, I believe in the Bible's teachings//
Good for you. As a non Christian, I don't.
Am I destined to an eternal torture?
If there's something beyond this Earthly stay then I'll know when I arrive, until then...

I hope you aren't going anywhere for a long time Ratter - love to Carakeel.x
You may find out when you get there, pixie. In any case you may have all eternity working towards whatever it is.

All advancement in understanding comes first from supposition which is then analysed and discussed in the hope of finding some possible explanation. Not good form to just dismiss what doesn't appeal.
I think it is, og... dismiss, at least at first, anything which doesn't make sense or is exceptionally unlikely. If I told you unicorns had left some fairies in my garden, you would be quite justified in being sceptical.
Usually there needs to be enough evidence, or preferably proof, to at least suggest we are on the right lines. None at all so far though.
Naomi Best Answer - "I don't know."
Wow that speaks volumes.
"However! if I was a believer I would have to consider, would I go to heaven or hell?"

Largely depends what a person is "a believer" in.

Jews don't generally have the concept of "hell" in the way Christians do. Google "Sheol", though. Sounds like that might work for them, so why not contact your local Rabbi? After a quick snip, a chap is one of God's chosen people (it says so in the Bible!) so job's a good 'un.

Other religions believe in reincarnation - at the moment of death you are reborn, so no worries about heaven and hell there! Again, one should contact one's local Hindu temple or Buddhist centre.

So many ways of avoiding hell! Luckily, you don't have to consider any of them...
And one could discuss that skepticism. But there's little explained by having fairies. Working out why we exist, however, is likely to be a weird, to us, explanation. Any suggestion from the brainstorming session should be considered.
It's an honest answer, theland....and makes sense....
I still don't see why you insist there must be a reason why, og?
I've not said there must be a reason, I've pointed out it's all pointless if there isn't one, which is unfortunate for all coping with life for no reason.
Unfortunate, maybe... but that does seem to be your sticking point for considering any further x
I have lived my life of the last 39 of my 69 years "knowing," because of scripture, prayer, and revelation from the two former.
I want nothing more than to share my peace with others preferably without angry responses.
Maybe other people have peace, theland, there is no need to try to convince anyone of something they don't believe x
Your "knowing" is no more accurate than anyone else's either...
Pixie - Fair enough and I respect your and others opinion. Let's stay friends. X
Of course x we can disagree and change opinions and still be friends x
I would dearly love to think that I’ll see my late husband, sister and parents when I go.

We will never know until we get there. So why, bicker?
Because we will never know, chrissa... but people like to think x
Not at all, it's a reason to hope there's more and considering ways that may be so.
But, nobody is going to convince a non-believer. It’s ones own belief. End of story.
