(I haven't won, so hold off with the SAEs for the moment, please)

I would buy a big farmhouse with land, stables and an indoor swimming pool. I would get more horses and rescue dogs (wanting a springer spaniel, now). I might put my youngest in a private school, as he has Sensory Processing Disorder and might struggle at Senior School.
I'm trying to decide if i would continue to work. I know i would miss it if i stopped, but a day off would be nice. I think i would volunteer at a homeless shelter, or something similar.
Would obviously help out family and good friends and make some donations to people and animal charities.

What would you do, if money was no object? Would you carry on working? Do you think it would change you?

I would. buy another wooden lodge for the animal assisted therapy and more therapy animals and maybe employ staff to help out with the therapy and looking after the animals etc and set up an Irish Wolfhound breeding program to promote the good health and longevity of the breed and possibly do the same for the British Bull Terrier and restore the breed to how it...

buy a bungalow with land
give a lot of it away
Depends how many Squillion I won!

If only a million I would stay in my current home and enjoy a good lifestyle and fab holidays.

If in excess of ten million I might consider buying a different home with land and starting a hobby small holding raising my own meat and becoming even more self sufficient.

I would wait and watch before dishing out the dosh to family........
I'd pinch Craft's cleaner

Craft's cleaner?
I have a great idea about funding houses for vulnerable adults using local tradesmen with ex-offenders as apprentices
I also want to fund orphanages in Eastern Europe using GAP year joiners and nurses
Oh and I want a gastric bypass so I can eat cheese all day
Give it all away.
Psybbo you couldn't afford her................she's priceless.
Yes, pixie, he has a real 'treasure' then I could deal with the important issue of how to distribute the money.

Ricror, I've thoughts about that for homeless people - including rehab, counselling, etc. Although i am wondering if and when they would move out. I think lots of people need a second chance.
Do you have a "treasure", craft?
She^^, craft, I'd make her an offer she couldn't refuse
Question Author
Cross-posted, psybbo, and still came up with the same word! (not sure craft is convinced, yet)
Don't be daft Psybbs, she'd not work down south...........
If it was megamoney I would make sure my family were set up .Buy a nice bungalow and a holiday home somewhere in the sun .
We're retired and getting on anyway so as long as I had enough to see us out comfortably I would give the rest of it away to cancer research or other good causes .
I might splash out on designer handbag though :)
I've always wanted to move to York!
Question Author
Oh yes! Designer handbags all round, i think. And a pair of boots. And a pale blue leather jacket...
quit work
I'm feeling shallow now.........but honest :-(
It would change me no doubt ! I would love to go down the farmhouse route too and have a lot of out buildings that I could transform into accommodation for 15/ 18 year olds who are having a rough time. They apparently " fall though the cracks " in our present welfare system and there are so many who would benefit from a helping hand. I frequent Rightmove just in case I ever win !
I'm with Eccles here, I would sort out a house, etc and give money to family and friends. Might look at being altruistic when I had settled into my new life.
My answer is similar to Psybbo's.

I once had an argument with a co-worker, because I said I'd carry on working (If the amount was just over £1 million and I was with a great bunch of people I wouldn't want to stop working with). Anything more than that and I'd buy a big Bungalow near my Sister, who lives in Somerset. If I couldn't find one to buy then I'd buy a plot of land and have something tastful built. I'd also give my mate Mike a large wad of notes too, for driving me about - even though it's his car and his idea to go out and about. I would also give my two Nephews enough that they could live comfortably, without the worry of debts.
