i'm puzzled that you haven't decorated a tree before. Are you a cockney or something brenda?

I put lights on first so you can tuck the wires in the branches, then put the baubles on afterwards between the gaps in the lights.
lights, baubles and hangy things, finally tinsel or garlands.
Lights first and get the right (and working) before everything else.
Lights first, then any other trimmings finished off with the baubles.

Yep ... lights first ...

... otherwise, the wire from the lights will tug off all the baubles when you're putting the lights on.

Not that I'd know.

My friends' daughter and her pal stayed with me for a couple of days this week, and they did ALL my decorations ... Yaay !!
we bought a pre-lit tree a couple of years ago - take out of box, stand it up, plug it in, done! i do add some baubles and my raggy doll fat fairy though.
