'Ye' is 'you'
^YE can br the too as in Ye Olde Shoppe etc.
Incidentally, ye is not old-fashioned for the, just an old way of writing it.
^ "Ye" can be "The" too...
And 'ye' doesn't begin with 'z', either. :-)
^ Yes, strictly speaking the Y is a "thorn" which has the sound TH
But you're right Tilly. It doesn't begin wth Z. Not sure why I got best answer either as I wasn't the first to proffer it.

There was a special shorthand for th which looked like a y.
