Blackcat, I will speak to a friend of mine who is eye wateringly mahoosive. I'll get back to you.

As it is not difficult to spend £150 on a bra at Rigby&Peller I would double that figure.

Given the variation due to weight loss/gain due to seasonal factors, time of the month and whether there is rain forecast I would question the value of a made to measure bra.
Optifit made-to-measure prices here:

Rigby & Peller's prices here:

Chris......your breadth, depth and indeed cupsize of knowledge never ceases to amaze me!...x
^^^Those R&B prices are for their standard range. You have to make an appointment (to prepare you for the shock) to get a figure for made-to-measure:
"Prices for our Made to Measure service do vary and will be discussed either with a member of our team at Knightsbridge before or during an agreed fitting"

I'm no expert on these things but OH, who is quite well blessed, always goes to a specialist bra shop where she is properly measured. She generally pays around £75 and finds it money well spent.
Why do you ask Black Cat?

I am an awkward size so have a vested interest in such matters.
My friend bought a very expensive bra from Rigby and Peller and she was mis-sized by them. She got a more accurate service from M&S. Then she lost loads of weight so she was glad she didn`t pay too much as the bra was never used again.
237sj, why does your friend think she was mis-sized by R&P?

i ask because i have just made an enquiry to a business that does m-t-m bras because i am also an awkward size
She said that the bra didn`t fit properly and it was uncomfortable.
Sorry, my answer was to Eccles
When she was sized for the bra did she not say anything at the time?
No because they measured her and she bought the bra on their say-so.
Having spent many an hour in R&P I am surprised that your friend left with an ill-fitting bra.

As you are physically fitted your friend had the opportunity to say that the bra was uncomfortable and if it was comfy on the day it may simply be a function of her monthly cycle.

apparently, this place makes a mock up after taking measurements and fits it to you
I don`t know the details Eccles. She was quite overweight at the time. Maybe her weight fluctuated. She is still a bit on the large side and gets her bras from Bravissimo now.
BlackCat I can see that there are some physical variations that will dictate the bra shape and once you have learnt this you choose styles to suit your physique. A good fitter will recognise your form and what style of cut will suit you best and recommend manufacturers.

I would be very wary about investing in made to measure.
Sorry 237, didn't mean to overlook your reply. I wonder if your friend simply found a correctly fitting and supportive bra uncomfortable rather than it actually being ill-fitting? Given the number of people who reckon they are a 38B and really are a 34D it does take some getting used to :-(
I don`t know Eccles. I would have to phone and ask her. I was measured by M&S and they told me I was 36B (which I know) and then I went to another M&S and they told me I was 34C. So I bought a 34C Wonderbra in 34C and it nearly killed me - I felt like I was being suffocated. In Woolworths in SA (which is affiliated with M&S) I am 38A. I don`t care for measurements - I just buy what feels comfortable.
It's fair to say that I know I am generally one size in one make and another size in a different brand. But taking the style of bra into account makes a huge difference.

I do think it's a shame that your friend didn't say at the time of fitting that the bra may have fitted according to the fitter but wasn't comfy as far as she was concerned.

I'd love to pick up a bra in M&S unfortunately I don't have enough back to match my front :-(
