evening china67 although this quiz has had a great many queries this appears to be the one clue never answered i trawled through the archives
but alas no luck as i understand it your looking for a place name is this correct
I am doing this quiz and can only come up with CORNWALL.

Simply because of the letters in crow and lawn (I know not exact anagram) and also "starting point".

All quiz answers relate to the route between Lands End (Cornwall starting point) and John O Groats???

Check out the last sentence of para2 ref the lost land of Lyonesse..

Extract from http://www.cismas.org.uk/lyonesse.php

The land of Lyonesse is a legendary, low-lying country said to once extend westwards from Land’s End to the Isles of Scilly.

Does this help?
Thanks for your research Boxtops.
I cannot make Lyonesse fit the clue and also the lady who compiled the quiz apparently traveled the route.
The answer to the first question is Cornwall. Look at the Cornwall Logo. It is a crow standing on a shield. I think that the word LAWN is an ancient word used in heraldry.
