Surely the point of completing a crossword is that you have completed it and not asked others to help you.

No tony - I'm not bad at crosswords, but sometimes even a simple clue has me really stumped. The choice then is to ask on here, so I can complete it, or throw it in the bin unfinished. Besides, some of them are prize crosswords and we get really pleased when we hear that an ABer has had a small win.

Or ask questions, see the working out and thereby grow in understanding.

Please the social interaction that goes with it.
Plus not please
Answering questions here means I don't have to buy newspapers for the X words anymore.

In any case - the crossword and puzzles section is really good for those of us who don't get a daily paper, but who still like to exercise the old grey matter by attempting to help other people :-)
Keeps the grey matter going and keeps me amused .
I'm really stumped at the mo on a couple in the Saga mag
Can you help ?
I agree with mamyalynne - this site is about much more than getting the right answers . . . you might be glad of some assistance one day!
Also agree with all the other people who've answered. . . I'm a bit slow at typing and they weren't there when I started!
I see you use Spellcheck. Surely (by your observation) you ought to look up words in a dictionary instead of using Spellcheck? People do like to help others with the odd answer for crosswords, and it is a pleasant pastime. Cheer up!
I'm sure all the ABers on this site welcome you, but remember it was your choice to join and participation is not compulsory, :o))
as adults I think people are entitled to fill in their own crosswords however they want to.
Yes yes yes to all the answers above, but sometimes I think that a quick Google search would have led the solver to an answer and contributed a bit of the old learnin' as well. I rarely ask questions on here and use previous replies to assist me as a last resort. I don't answer questions because Lie-in King has usually done so before I can get the typing done!
Thing is there are lots of cryptic clues asked .
These are not always easily solved by Googling .
I can relate to your comment Captain Spod. Sometimes I notice Lie in King is "on duty" and think the rest of us can relax!
He is even quicker now with his Halloween go faster devil horns on Mwahahaha!

By asking questions and interacting with other members on the site, one can learn much and get better at tackling crosswords. I have about 35 years' experience of "cryptics", but still post here quite regularly, asking more experienced people for help (usually on Sundays!)

One might as well contend: "Surely the point of achieving an orgasm is that you have completed it [yourself] and not asked others to help you."

Of course, some crosswords are harder than others...

Where's Tony gone anyway ?
He must be stuck on something .....
Perhaps the answer was nitpicking .
He's busy, achieving an orgasm by himself!!
Bah humbug
Couldn't resist.
