I don't know the proverb, but by a process of elimination it must be 'milk a goat'. Marry in May: rue the day & Wash a blanket in May: wash a dear one away.

Important google technique. Try searching all three options and see what you get.

Not sure about the blanket or goat, but I know it's "marry in May, rue the day."

I married Mr P in May, no rueing here...
Ah, but have you asked Mr P ?
Mr P isn't allowed to talk. That is how and why our marriage works.

;-)
Well you can't 'cast a clout'.................
LOL 2sp ...
Casting a clout does not refer to the Month of May but the flower.
I don't know the proverb, but by a process of elimination it must be 'milk a goat'.

Marry in May: rue the day
&
Wash a blanket in May: wash a dear one away.
So it seems not to be soemthing that's fine to do, but maybe something that isn't considered not fine to do ?
Kettledrum has got it right, there are proverbial repercussions to marry in May and Wash a blanket, but you can safely milk a goat in May or June or July etc.
It works for Mr P because when you want his opinion you will tell him what to say...it works for us and we have been together for 45 years
