Just writing on the other thread about looking out of window just now and seeing large footprints down the centre of our road spoiling the pure untrodden snow, reminded me of a wise old quote a schoolfriend wrote in my Autograph book over 50 years ago which is really true (and topical!)

" Your future lies before you like a path of pure white snow. Be careful how you tread it for every step will show"

What wise quote can you remember from the past? Maybe one your parents passed on to you?

Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up

My advice to my children was...."Paddle your own canoe".....they have.

Edmund Burke's...All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing.
And......Never criticise a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins.......
would be good to live by but I fail. :-(

Never stand behind a squatting dog.
Ann my mother wrote that in my very first Autograph book.
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it"
- W C Fields
My mother said "Don`t do that because if the wind changes, you`ll stay like it"

"Don't eat yellow snow".
Make new friends, but keep the old.
New friends are silver, old friends are gold.
I'll settle for two quotes from Neil Young :

"It's better to burn out, than it is to rust"

"Travelling in the middle of the road becomes a bore - so head for the ditch. It's a rougher ride, but there are more interesting people there."
Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up
Maybe one your parents passed on to you.......'if you don't stop crying I'll give you something to cry about'. It sounds harsh but when you take a step back and think about it it does give you the all important sense of perspective.
Just bought some Chinese calligraphy in Chinatown. I`m always living ahead of myself so I`m going to frame it and put it on the wall. It says "Life is not a race but a journey to be savoured, each step of the way. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift".
I Like those Dave. Rather similar to the one I have hanging in my hall. It was given to me by a friend who seems to think I'm a bit wild.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways loudly proclaiming....

WHOA WHAT A RIDE!

She could of course just think I look knackered. :-(
Never answer the phone whilst ironing : )

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
Not really a quote but I like these lines from a Elvis song
I love you more today, more today than yesterday,
But I love you less today, less than I will tomorrow

Mick - that is great, the whole world would do well to heed that one!
