Our existing metal door is the type with a rod and spring (above the door)that goes across the door inside the garage, with metal slide rails down each side. It's is a double garage and I think the door type is referred to as Canopy or Up-and-over door.
Having spent a little time looking at the web for information, what I have found has all been about doors that have a pair of springs on each side and I have not been able to find specific instructions for our type of door. The suggestion being that our type of door does not convert easily.
Any suggestion on conversion and fitting welcome.

Known in the trade as "fitting new to old" ................ not always the best option David. I only say this because your door sounds as though it's getting on a bit. If so, your shiny new electric gear could be made useless if the door starts to play up, and has to be scrapped.

Cardale uses a different assembly and cartridge.
I think you will need complete replacement assy.

I have tried other installers but no response I guess they might still be on holiday.
Thank you.
