This a genuine, non-partisan inquiry. Why are Israeli military and government spokesmen now continually referring to Hamas as ISIS?

Good.  Perhaps it'll hit the spot with the useful idiots marching for Palestine.  Something needs to because as it is they have no idea what they're supporting.

Are they?  I haven't heard that - but for what my opinion is worth there is little to differentiate between any of the Islamic terrorist groups.  They're all founded on the same fundamental principles of their religion.

Question Author

naomi: Agreed but even an Israeli ex-PM is using the term ISIS.

Could it be that their propaganda people think linking the terrorists of  ISIS with the freedom fighters of Hamas would further taint the letters reputation?

Put your well-worn wooden spoon away, sandyRoe.

"...freedom fighters of Hamas..."

Bloody hell.

Go on, tell us again and repeat your lie that you don't support Hamas, a proscribed terrorist group.

Naomi24,

This is one subject where I'm never anything but serious.

Deskdiary,

Where have I lied and  said I don't support Hamas?

Some people need their hardrive checking.

So you do support Hamas, and by dint of which you supported their actions of a couple of weeks ago. Referring to them as "freedom fighters" pretty much confirms this.

If you'd have voiced that within earshot of plod at Saturday's protest you would have had your collar felt (assuming plod were doing their job).

I'm very sorry to hear it, sandyRoe.

Surely you are not surprised, naomi?

Disappointed.

"So you do support Hamas..."

No, I didn't say that either.

Isn't it curious how a battle far away has endangered freedom of speech here in the UK?

You don't need to say it - yours at 6.42 confirms it.

You won't change my mind, sanywroe

There isn't really any connection between ISIS and Hamas. Totally different objectives and idiology. They are both muslim groups that use terrorism, but their aims are not the same.

Surely the Israeli Government knows that? The spread of disinformation is intended to blur and confuse spectators. It is a territory dispute, not a holy war.

Question Author

Difficult, for me at least, to grasp how the Left supports Palestinian and other Arab groups when they practise, or condone, the appaling treatment of women (stoning for alleged adultery) and death sentences for homosexuals.

Gromit, you're mistaken.  They don't have totally different objectives and ideology.
