Is Gary Lineker Correct?

I don't think so. This country cannot cope with more illegal immigrants. We just haven't got the capacity for them. And we need a really strong deterrent, but is this action strong enough by the govt? And will it work?

Lineker is a bit of a prat it has to be said. On the one hand he gets all righteously indignant about attempts to stop the boats and that he will "continue to speak up", and yet on the other he's perfectly happy to spend 6 weeks in Qatar, which has a dreadful record of treatment of people. If he was genuine, he would have refused to attend the World Cup and foregone the...

It does not matter who said what or from what platform. The fact that too many people hold the same or similar opinion, means there will always be whinging opposition to whatever solution is proposed.
Hence this very significant problem for the UK will only get worse, particularly when there is money to be made from “trafficking” these people into the UK. ThePM’s plan is nowhere near draconian enough and sounds (to me anyway) as tinkering. So, good luck with that Rishi

the irony is that in all likelihood most of the leftie bbc luvvies will agree with Loinacre and his ridiculous stance on these criminal sponging freeloaders that come here in full knowledge they wont get chucked out and will eventually get all the benefits they came here for, free money, healthcare, housing etc etc etc, and theyll know all about their 'ooman rights etc and how to play the system...
Untitled, //you however have insisted that safe and legal routes exist for people to enter in order to claim asylum when that is not actually true//
Of course it's true, untitled. What's to stop say, a gay man, from a country where his lifestyle presents a danger to him, buying a flight to Heathrow and once there following government advice by presenting himself to the border guards and claiming asylum? Nothing. It makes you wonder why all those boat people pay thousands of pounds for the crossing when, if they're genuine, a £50 ticket on Ryanair would do nicely.
Corby, see above..

it's illegal for him to do that under uk law as he would need to obtain a visa under false pretenses... it is not possible to get a visa for the purpose of claiming asylum.
the route you describe is safe for those with access to it but it's not legal

Ah the commies are out wanting to flood the country they hate I see.
No surprise I suppose.
As for Linekar, anyone spouting off on social media has to be careful no matter who they work for if they can be associated with the company. The BBC is supposed to be impartial - he really isnt helping is he.
But I dont care as I dont have a tv licence.
