has anyone had any problems with on line deliveries from Sainsburys, i just had a delivery driver tell me that there was a first floor delivery drop only, and that its policy. I have never ever heard of such a thing, so i rang the company and explained this to them, the customer advisor seemed to think it's something of a grey area? i am up on the second floor and the driver expected me to carry up the crates the extra floor.
after explaining that i am not remotely able to do that, he finally agreed to deliver to the balcony. Has anyone had this happen to them.

i am not so much angry as perplexed, he asked me if anyone could help, no i said, what would be the point of delivery to the first floor only, i mean i do on line shopping because its delivered, as i can no longer manage getting to the stores and lugging it home.

up two flights of stairs, no chance bednobs. he did help eventually, but i wondered if anyone else has come across this before.
Mrs sqad has never had problems and she commented that if that happened then nobody in the block would use Sainsburys and that thew would lose business as it is a prestigious development containing 100 flats.
She also says that Ocado are a different ball game and in her experience superb concerning home deliveries.

i don't expect it to happen again, if it does i will switch to another supplier. we don't have a lift as its only 8 flats.
From their website 'Our Driver will deliver to any floor of your residential building providing it is safe to do so. If the driver has safety concerns they will discuss alternative options with you for that delivery. The store will then contact you to discuss future deliveries.'

I had this happen to me, Sainsburys driver would not deliver to me on first floor, he buzzed the intercom and said I'd have to go down to the main door and take shopping up myself, I refused and told him to take it back to the shop, also told him that many other drivers delivered it to my door. I phoned the helpline and explained the situation, they sent out another driver with my delivery and gave me a £20 voucher.
Fitzer........translated......it depends upon which " bolshy b ug er' delivers -;0

I have NEVER had this problem before. he would deliver to first floor only, doesn't make any sense. i did speak to customer service and they are going to look into it.

saintpeter, well done you...
But as per saintp if you complain then you should get it resolved as they'd need a pretty good reason for saying it wasn't safe under H&S. Still a hassle you don't need though!
Question Author
indeed, i use sainsburys every week without fail. i will continue to use them, but if i get any more hassle from the drivers i will look elsewhere for my shopping.
It looks like this is down to the driver being lazy or awkward. 'Rules is rules' sounds like an excuse to me.
