How cool is this guy ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-33741380

Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!

He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".

In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.

That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

Exactly, SP, my OH always holds my hand (mainly so I don't fall over)

/// If you want to commit and armed robbery on a bank, but you've not a actually gone through with it, you're not an armed robber. ///

No but there is nothing stopping you saying you are, no one can convict you for that.

And before you start going off on yet another silly analogy, what I have put is in the same context with what was stated earlier, about it not being unlawful for being gay in the past, but it was the sexual acts between two of the same sex that was deemed unlawful.
The same sex acts that lots of heterosexual partake in!
//
ummmm
The same sex acts that lots of heterosexual partake in! //

I find that very hard to believe.
AOG....what two people, of whatever sex, decide to do in private is entirely up to them, and it should always have been so. I couldn't care less what they do, as long as children and animals are not involved.

But it was only after the Sexual Offences Act 1967, that this right to privacy became enshrined in the law.

I am not sure why you describe the taking part in an entirely legal Gay Pride march as "broadcasting" ? What possible difference does it make to you ?

I, for one, wish this couple a long and happy life together, although long may not be for very long, given Mr Montague's age.
Ron....don't find it hard to believe...it's true.

/// The point is, the moment you refer to your partner and identify them as female (if you are male) then you are broadcasting your sexuality to whoever you are talking to. ///

Yes but one doesn't need parades, banners, or the old riding around the village shouting "I am the oldest straight in the Village".
AOG....we don't strictly need you or I here on AB, but I think we liven things up a bit don't we ?

Cut this couple some slack for goodness sake !
ummmm

And which most heterosexual couples find abominable.

But regardless of that though, it was being caught in the act, that was unlawful, who would have known if two men, or two women, had sex in the privacy of their home?
Most people of your generation, AOG. Most of us don't even think about what two consenting adults get up to.
I may be wrong here but I always understood that before the Sexual Offences Act was passed in 1967, sexual acts between two men was considered to be illegal no matter where the acts occurred. So two men could and were prosecuted for private acts, as long as the Police could get enough evidence.
ummmm is quite correct........many heterosexuals engage in "homosexual type" acts, but they are not going to broadcast it........are they?

/// I am not sure why you describe the taking part in an entirely legal Gay Pride march as "broadcasting" ? ///

How else would you describe a body of people, staging a march, so as to get over their particular agenda?

What agenda is that, AOG?
ummmm

Really????? Wasn't it you who earlier said?

Well of course they could, no one is saying different, but unless the police actually raided an establishment and caught them actually in the act, how else would they know.
Don't care what people do with/to each other in private. (as long as no-one gets hurt) But why is homosexuality seen as a 'badge of honour' nowadays. Cant they just, quietly, get on with their lives like the rest of us do.
Its called freedom of speech AOG, and it isn't harming anyone.

I don't know where you live but I am betting that it isn't Brighton. What difference does it make to you if some people want to celebrate and have a good time ? Attendance at Pride marches isn't compulsory....if you don't want your sensitive nature to be offended, look the other way !

I am reminded of the joke, about an old lady that calls 999, and tells the Police that there is a man in the block of flats opposite, who is exposing himself in the window.

The Police duly rush over to her flat, and find her sitting on a chair by the window, trembling with fear. The Police look out of the window, up and down the street, but can't see anything amiss.

"Oh no" the old lady says, "you've got to stand on the chair ! "
Yes, AOG, because they do. So what you seem to think is abominable happens in many heterosexual bedrooms all over the world.

So....instead of thinking what gay people get up sexually maybe just concentrate on two people loving each other.

When a gay sexual thought pops into your head think of a Disney film or something.

One could say, "Just look at me, I am Gay"

Perhaps I could have put 'GENDER'.
