The Oldest Gay In The Village

How cool is this guy ...
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -englan d-susse x-33741 380
Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!
He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".
In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.
That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

/// I don't think it was his views, it was using them to wind other people up, ///
All views that are different to the rest of the sheep, wind people up on this site.
If it is true that retrocop has indeed been suspended, I do hope that it is only temporary and he will soon be back to air his non illegal, but individualistic views.
If all ABers who happen to hold views that are controversial and individualistic are to be sent into the wilderness, then this site will only support ABers who all agree with each other, and how boring would that be, and the AnswerBank itself will finish up in the wilderness.
So be careful what you wish for.

/// I think the point is that it's his views in combination with the "I was just posting it to see what response I'd get". this is the definition of internet trolling, ///
That is not the definition of trolling, it isd what we all do on this site, "posting it to see what response we get".
Isn't that what a question & answer site is all about, if we posted but got no response, how long would we bother to waste our time posting?

Not really AOG -- the response retrocop was after was an emotional one rather than any other. "I want to see if posting this makes so-and-so angry" is a very different thing from posting a question to see what answers are given. It's a dishonest position to take in what should be a debate -- especially when he "knew" what was likely to happen (retrochic is right, though, that it's not a good idea to "feed the troll" if one joins in a debate trying to derail it in such a manner. Better to ignore).
That might be the case, retrochic, although I suspect that Gay Pride events don't make people who were otherwise "positive towards the gay community", whatever that means, would have their minds changed. If you have a negative attitude towards gay people then it seems to me that only if gay people were to pretend they didn't exist would people's attitudes change -- and then, only because they no longer had to think about it.
Gay pride events are for the people involved, and as long as there is any sort of negative stigma about someone simply for being gay, then those events are necessary and should continue. And it's a real shame, then, that Gay Pride remains necessary.

/// Trying to pass yourself off as less intelligent than you are in order to excuse lazy thinking doesn't really make it alright. ///
It is a wonder that you yourself has not been suspended for assuming that a fellow ABer is trying to pass himself off as less intelligent than he is, is surely against Site Rules.
*** Discussions can get passionate but users should moderate their language and refrain from personal attacks and profanity. ***
Surely what you said was a personal attack?

Did you write this tongue in cheek, or to be provocative, or because you honestly believe it:
"Try telling that to the family of Stuart Lubbock, the victim in the Michael Barrymore case."
I need to know, so that I can temper my response accurately. I'd hate to criticise what you have written if you were simply trying to move the debate on with a witticism.
