Farage Wants To Repeal Anti-Race Discrimination Laws

Anybody who is still unsure whether to vote for UKIP or not in a few weeks time had better see this.
He wants to repeal anti-race discrimination laws ! This will never happen, of course, because Farage and UKIP will never win a General Election ! But the fact that he has said this, is still atrocious .
My Dad had to put with signs saying " No Blacks, no Irish and no dogs" when he was a young man in post war Britain. If Farage had his way, these signs would appear outside the factory gate, all over again.

If anybody else wants a reason that Farage and his Party are constantly exposed to ridicule, they need look no further.

Answers
Firstly we are not in Canada or Australia, we are in the European Union that has a policy of free movement. Secondly there are areas that would not give an Eastern European or a Muslim or someone who is black a job because they don't feel that the individual is 'right for the job' ie not white anglo. That is wrong and we need to maintain these laws or what will be the...

In a documentary entitled Things We Won't Say About Race That Are True, (Channel 4 Thursday 19th March at 9pm), Trevor Phillips argues that only more openness, more sophisticated ethnic monitoring and a willingness to talk about what the data reveal, will help those most in need; and that in a diverse society we may have to get more used to giving and taking offence.

The issue is that Farage wants to repeal Race Discrimination Legislation full stop.
Trevor Phillips is a thoughtful person with interesting ideas and o doubt this will be a man interesting programme - whereas Farage it seems to me I'd not really interested in any thing other than culling votes. Exactly like all the other politicians he allegedly despises.

I wouldn't trust them to pass a message from one side of a table to the other without altering the context to suit their biased views.
UKIP scare Labour,
not in so much that they will win the Election but that they will take enough Labour Votes to prevent Labour winning, which would be good!

What he has said literally makes no sense whatsoever.

I haven't read all of this. I'll try to do so later. However, was not that long ago that Gordon Brown proposed a policy of "British jobs for British workers". Nobody roundly condemned that statement as far as I can recall. Quite how that was to be achieved without racial discrimination in the workplace is a little hard to understand. Mr Farage has moved on a little from that andinstead of blandly trumpeting the headline is outlining how it might be achieved.
Currently, sp, if a company was seen to routinely prefer British applicants to Polish ones (all other things being equal) they would be accused of, and probably be found guilty of, anti-equality or racial discrimination offences. He is also suggesting going a little further by saying that firms should be allowed to openly state that jobs are only open to British applicants.
Of course it will work both ways. Just recently a company (or local authority, I cannot immediately recall) in Wales has advertised for workers and stated in the advert that "Speaking Polish would be an advantage". They did so on the basis that many of their workforce were Polish. Since there are far more Polish people in the UK speaking Polish than there are British people the advert is clearly discriminatory and they have been asked to explain themselves. Under Mr Farage's arrangements they would not have to.

And continuing on that, Muslim businesses can openly advertise for employees with the stipulation, 'No non-Muslims'?
And let's be quite clear - once this little Pandora's Box is open, aren't we no more than a couple of steps away from public employees being able to discriminate against customers?

No, it most certainly is not. Not for the first time remarks made by Mr Farage have been misrepresented and distorted.
What he is saying is that in their recruitment process companies should presume that they will hire British applicants in preference to those of other nationalities (all other things such as qualifications and qualities needed for the job are equal). “No blacks, no Asians” would not be part of that arrangement because, as you have quite rightly pointed out, many black and Asian people are British.
Furthermore, he has not suggested that companies would have the right to dismiss staff on the basis of their race or ethnicity. In fact he went to pains to explain that he was not proposing to abolish the Race Relations Act.
There is nothing remotely outrageous in these proposals in a country that has two million people unemployed (most of them allegedly seeking work) and which sees the answer to its ills in importing labour to do unskilled jobs whilst paying two million people to do nothing. Many countries outside the EU insist on migrants having jobs to come to and refuse entry to those who have not. Many give preference to their own citizens above those from elsewhere. That’s what governments are supposed to do.
Of course none of this will be possible whilst the UK retains its EU membership (with or without Mr Cameron's promised "reforms") so the first hurdle that needs to be crossed to set the UK on the road to prosperity is our withdrawal from that wretched moribund organisation.
