Hi colinandjess- do you have a link please to details of this charity?
At least he has a carbootful of stuff (as per the photo) that he will no doubt handed over to this charity
Then he has no problem...the agency can back him up and shame Aldi.
It is very difficult in this instance without knowing all the facts whether to praise Aldi for "looking out for their other customers" or feel embarrassed or sorry for this man trying to help and avoid costs being eaten up by red tape?
I agree Gness- if he does that and encourages/embarrases Aldi to make a similar donation then that would be good
EcclesCake, your friend had a tasty but repetitive diet there.
"godsmacked" is a good word.

No good deed goes unpunished, eh?
I thought it wasn't nice to be left on the shelf?

Sandy, he didn't like cooking and had absolutely no interest in food, he just saw it as fuel.

I was stunned when he told me what he ate!
His name is Reiss Bawler for for heavens sake - how can he be running a corner shop ?

from my above link

If he were running a shop or buying in for a friend that has a shop he would hardly go complaining to the media.
There are collection points all over the UK that accept food and other donations for the people of Syria.
I have a preference for a particular brand of tinned soup, and the local stores either do not sell it, or occasionally have one flavour of it in. So about once a month I drive into the town some miles away to the Waitrose here and get say, 50 odd tins of it, to avoid making the journey too often. Maybe I'm in danger of being accused soon ?
Aldi sells mainly own label tinned goods. I could understand a corner shop owner snapping up half price Nescafe from Tesco to resell, not Aldi tinned potatoes.

Thanks DrF- this shows there are agencies sending food over, but I was looking more for the link that gave ColinandJess the info in his/her/their post
As rarely as I can get away with.

Exactly my thoughts...
My niece is a manageress at a Tesco and she tells me they have several customers who regularly place large orders for bargain goods, one for instance being a local pet santuary. They phone the order in and as boxie says the order is filled straight from stock. They even deliver locally.
