Didn't Reagan use the same ploy when the Contra/Arms to Iran business was causing him some embarrassment?

I think his defence may be about to play the Alzheimer's card - I fully expect a miraculous, Saundersesque recovery at some later point ...

I think he should be taken outside and shot, and I am on record as opposing the death penalty. I suppose we should be grateful that he is in custody. I hope he doesn't cheat the process of justice by dying inconveniently,
like Slobodan Milošević, or Slob for short.
He will invoke the Shaggy Defence.

Mush...Shaggy ?...sorry, can you explain please !
of course. "Shaggy Defence", from Shaggy's 200 worldwide hit hit, "It Wasn't Me".

Flat denial in the face of incontrovertible evidence.

Ah !...that Shaggy...I thought it was the one in Scooby Do !

Sorry Mush...I don't know much about pop music !
I agree with Mushroom. He'll claim that any killings of prisoners were carried out by paramilitaries and that he, and his army, have done nothing to be ashamed of.

You may be right sandy but the evidence is overwhelmingly against this thug, and it would seem that it is only a matter of time before his sentence begins.

Incidentally, does anyone know what his sentence might be ? He is being charged with genocide after all.
The trial of Milosovich took so long that he died before it ended. How old is Mladic?
Obviously he will claim the paramilitary angle, and whilst it's true that you can't control every lunatic who might choose to follow you, this was obviously a well organised, pre planned event. What else can he say though?
How about

"It's a fair cop, guv. You got me bang to rights & I'll do me time"

No - I sort of thought not.

As I said, they seem to be preparing for a "He's old and doesn't remember because of Alzheimer's" defence".
Question Author
72 sandy, and in rude health ( I hope )
I think sunny-dave has the answer. At some point the 'I'm too old\ill to face justice' card will be played.
from the BBC report -
The defence...................... are expected to point out that Mr Mladic suffers from a memory disorder that makes it hard for him to differentiate between truth and fiction.
QED.
// ....Mr Mladic suffers from a memory disorder that makes it hard for him to differentiate between truth and fiction. //

Oh ok, I didn't realise it had been played already.
Didn't Reagan use the same ploy when the Contra/Arms to Iran business was causing him some embarrassment?
I can't remember.
^ If ever a reply deserved best answer, that's it. :-)
