Farage Beats Clegg Convincingly.
Who'd have thought it?
At the General Election televised leaders debate, Clegg did very well, probably beating both Cameron and Brown. Now in the EU debate, the underdog Farage has won both debates. I must admit the result surprises me.

Yes Farage is prone to the odd gaffe (as are most politicians who don't rehearse too much), Gromit, but he's fairly sound on the basic important stuff. Clegg suffers in EU arguments because he mistakenly believes that the scaremongeri ng drivel he spouts is actually true. It's always difficult to convince people that incorrect information is true. I think he is a deputy PM in name only. dave had to give him something in return for his 30 pieces of silver. The real debate is between Ed and dave, and I am sure we see them live on the telly a bit closer to next May. As I have already said, UKIP and the LibDems are not going to win next years Election...Ed or dave will. I'm not sure that we are doing ourselves any favours by giving Farage the oxygen of publicity.
I never doubted that for one minute emmie, and he is entitled to his views.
I am merely pointing out, as I have many times before, that UKIP are not going to win the May 2015 Election. The party may influence the outcome but even that may not mount up to anything much. There are lots of minor parties on the hustings but nobody else has as much publicity as Farage.

Surely what everyone wants to know is what are the real facts. What real differences would it make if we were out. I actually watched it for a while hoping for this but it was just point-scoring, insulting each other like a couple of kids, you said this, you said that. It shouldn't have been a who beat who, it should be a debate on which would be best. Politicians just p me off- I turned it off, none the wiser.
"He forgot to mention that clever little Iceland went bust and had to be bailed out and that the Swiss economy is supported by international criminals and money launderers."
I don't think Iceland's problems were caused by them being "outsiders", jomifl, and I don't believe those problems would have been avoided had they been members. Also, you forgot to mention one or two other non-EU nations, jomifl. Like Norway for example.

Blimey mikey, thats a bit awkward coming from you. I suggest you go back and read your historic post on this site where you routinely refer to other posters comments as drivel without explaining why, posters lacking common sense, and of course, calling posters racist. (or the current SWP/UAF, ism or phobic word of the month).
But, you're right, I shouldn't descend down that route.

members of the club who have gone belly up, or to put it in their parlance had to be bailed out, Greece, for one, Ireland for another, how many more are in dire financial straits, how many are we having to support because their economies are not remotely robust. This idea that we are in this all encompassing club sharing the pot is absurd, it doesn't work like that, nor the freedom of movement of individuals, as how many British want to live in Lithuania, Romania, Greece even, how many have good enough industries that British can work in those and other smaller countries in the EU, its a fallacy and been put forward by those who have a vested interest. We have widely differing economies, widely differing industries and quite frankly i am heartily sick of listening to every known language but the one i understand, English.
