How does one set about 'going private'? After X-rays and scans it's been decided that a hip replacement is called for and the prospective patient has been placed on a waiting list to see a surgeon. I'm guessing that that consultation won't be today or tomorrow.

Just phone your local private hospital. They will arrange for you to be examined by a consultant within 2 weeks, that's roughly the general rule amongst the Orthopaedic surgeons where I work. You'd probably have your op within a month of that, certainly no longer than 6 weeks.

Thank you, ChillDoubt. I'll have a look in the phone directory.
Hold it! Hold it.

The key to a good result is to pick your unit and pick your surgeon.

Which is your nearest NHS Orthopaedic unit?

Sqad, she has an appointment at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast. Well, not an appointment, a place in the waiting list for one.
O.K.....Mr David Beverland would be my choice.

Good luck to her.......

P.S Good answer by Chilli.
