Does loud noise affect the way you taste food?

I was just eating a bit shortbread while my mum was hoovering right next to me and I swear that it was making it taste not as nice! I sound crazy but has anyone else experienced this?

I think it was the guilt of sitting eating junk food while your mum was busy hoovering that left a sour taste ;)

Either that or yeah, you're just a bit odd. :)

I think it's the second option really :-)
It's true! Try eating cornflakes with cotton wool in your ears. They'll taste stale.
I want to try now. But I'm starving and I don't want to ruin my lunch :S

Woohoo!! I'm not nuts!!

You know i'm gonna go and try that later lol!
I had experience familiar to your. Eating ice cream and listening to hard core music. I did not even finished ice cream... Very strange....
Think I might have to try a controlled experiment
1 eat bag of skittles in peace and quiet
2 eat bag of skittles while OH is hovering
Both will taste good .he he
Is it possible that fine dust from the hoover entered your nose or mouth as you were chewing and this is what affected the taste ?
Some people sense colours associates with sound, taste or smell so I would expect a there is potential for a connection between sound and taste too.
