The only advantage in knowing "who" would be if they were named on every removed answer, with the site rule that was broken. Otherwise, you would just have a list of names- and people would make up "who" had removed something.

Rarely.
I think that he/she bobs in now and again, but not actually on duty,
Question Author
As I thought...
If the Ed’s not on duty, who deletes threads? Can mods?
Yes.
I think mods can both delete and close threads, and obviously, posts. I think, they can't move them between categories.
Rocky, yes.
spot on Pixie.
Mods can delete posts and threads. They can also close or re-open threads.
Corby, the ED re-opens threads.
The mind fairly boggles at one person having such power.

And getting every weekend off.
Question Author
Under what circumstances do mods delete?
Pasta, usually for an infringement of site rules.
usually for Site Rules? not always then. I did not see the end of the Dawn French thread that got zapped but it seemed pretty innocuous to me.
Question Author
And what if there is no apparent infringement?
Question Author
Bite your tongue APG!
Pasta, the ED checks all removals by mods so if no infringement he would re-instate the thread or post.
Who are the moderators anyway? All the sites I go on are clear who has admin rights. Is this a peer moderated site?
It was more of an undercut than an infringement I thought.

Top dawg will no doubt comb the thread on Monday and shed light if appropriate.
Perhaps an email to the Editor Pasta to see if she is willing to discuss the rules that the Moderators should follow with you.
