Top Tips To Save On Motor Insurance

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

With nearly all the associated costs of driving a car rising, just keeping the tank full and the tax and motor insurance covered can seem like a full time job.

It doesn't have to be this way, however, and with a few deft manoeuvres you may be able to reduce your motor insurance premiums by £100s every year.

For instance, any driver aged 25 or over quoted around £500 for unlimited miles motor insurance could slash that by about £100 if they only drive 8,000 or less every year. In addition, rather than opting for open driver cover, ensure that anyone else who may be driving your vehicle is named. This could cut the cost of the premium by roughly £200.

And new drivers, who often face some of the steepest motor insurance policies at a time when they are unlikely to be able to afford them can save up to £400 on their motor insurance if they choose to take a Pass Plus exam.

"It's not always about reducing the cost, it’s often beneficial to pay that little bit extra in order to save yourself money in the event of a claim,” said a motor insurance spokesman.
