Drivers Vote For Their Favourite Gadgets

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Motor insurance customers have voted night vision and adaptive cruise control as the most highly desired in-car technologies.

A poll by MSN Cars found these two pieces of equipment were the ones drivers would most like to have in the next vehicle they buy. Participants in the survey were given a list of in-car technologies - and night vision and adaptive cruise control both received a fifth of the votes.

Self-parking, a vehicle internet feed and voice control also proved popular with drivers. The content manager of MSN Cars said: "Our poll involving a very large sample gives clear indications of the technology the bulk of potential buyers want to see in their next car."

He added the main challenge for manufacturers would be including these kinds of high-tech innovations, while keeping costs down in a competitive market. It may also indicate that car manufacturers have a challenge in educating the public in terms of the benefits that some of these new technologies can offer in terms of convenience and safety.

Nearly 30,000 people responded to the poll which was on the site’s cars home page.
