When I have my car hand washed by those marvellous young men from the EU, they spray the bottom half of the outside at the beginning, before they pressure wash, they leave it for a few minutes and it appears it's a kind of solvent which softens road dirt. Does anybody know what this stuff is and is it purchasable? Also when they soap the car it really lathers and leaves a lovely shine to the car, do you know what that stuff is?
Many thanks, in anticipation,
Bramleyboy.

Firstly, I never let anyone wash my car..I just don't trust them.
However, I have a product called Astonish Pre-wash car treatment which you use on the really dirty places before setting-to. They seem to have discontinued it, though. And Astonish do a range of inexpensive car-care products, like this...

...all readily available. See list of stockists.

If you don't mind paying more, there is a fantastic range of products on this site...I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for:

These Polish car washes are popping up everywhere, they are good in a way and I have had them wash my car but they dont really take much 'care' of your paintwork and go at it like a bull in a china shop. Several times Ive had them bang the washer brush on my bonnet and then the long hose attachment bashes against the sides of my poor car...as they are paid cash only do they declare all this cash? Similar to nail bars run by Asians that take cash only.
Well my local one does a fantastic job and all for a fiver. I'm not really bothered how much they put thru the books. They work very hard and deserve a bit of success. Some British guys / girls could have set something up but they'd probably rather sit on their backsides and claim 'dole'.
Sorry BB, I didn't answer your Q.
I agree with Zacs-Master I think the Polish boys do an excellent job & I hope they continue to do so with great success, I am unable to clean the car myself & the car wash is useless. They are always polite & helpful & will usually load my shopping on the car for me. Long may they continue.

I don;t know their nationality but I get very cheesed off having opted to drive to the supermarket to have to tell these folk I don;t want the car washed every time. They are almost as bad as the windscreen cleaners at the road junctions :-(
I'm unsure why that decided to post while I was still proof reading it. Bloody laptops >:-(
Why dont you ask them

I'll give it a go and report back. About three years ago I had my car cleaned in Cambridge and the young man said to me 'and how are you today?' then without waiting for a reply he said I'm very well, thank you. I think that's what he'd learnt.
