because yer average Brit is slow to change.
Cos we're no longer British, we're European
I like to use furlongs per hogshead.
Because we are English
Because our roads are measured in miles.
cos we are being conned, distaces are in miles, speed limits are in miles per hour, fuel, to rip us off is sold in metric liquid measure, the idea I think is so that we dont get to grip with inflated prices. How can a litre of fuel be priced say £135.9 a litre when our lowest coinage is 1p?
the government get one hell of an amount in fuel tax then VAT on top.
As we are in Britain we should imo buy fuel in imperial measure.
I will always work out distances in miles and fuel consumption in mpg. I get approx 45 - 50 mpg in my car, it would take a while to work out km per litre and it wouldn't mean anything to me.

Also, How much fuel do you get for 0.07 of a penny?
> Because we are English

Speak for yourself!

And who on earth bothers about fuel consumption? When my car is running low on fuel, I fill it up. What's the problem...?
Because the government does not want you to see that you are paying £6.20 on average for a gallon of petrol, that's why.
Money Mark. Money is the problem.

Strange, nobody seems to be hiding the fact that we are buying beer/lager at £28/gallon.
Ahm, is it because we're useless at arithmetic?
Howard.. when you put it like that it makes you think, petrol 4/8d per gallon Watneys red barrell 1/10d per pint mind you that was 1969
x or / by 4.5ish

Howard, I won't be joining you for a drink wherever you are, Lager's less than £21.00 per gallon at my local!
Because we are all confused as to whether we are part of Europe or even wish to be . Perhaps it's the UK government endeavouring to keep-in with both the continent of Europe and America. I believe they still have miles and gallons in the USA.

Ron.
Pedigree £24 per gallon at a pub near me.
Yep. That's why hardly anyone goes to pubs anymore.
You can choose your booze per gallon amount to some extent.
I no longer go to my local because of the smoking ban. However, whilst my car does about 5miles per cigarette, I never smoke in cars.....filthy habit.

Ron.
Should anyone think I was exaggerating, Stella in my local is £27.60/gallon.
I quite believe it. I can hardly afford a pint in any of my locals - Guinness - which on average is about £3.25 - scandalous.
