Usually items like exhausts and tyres are not included but you would have to check the terms of your warranty for a definitive answer

If you are referring to the warranty that came with the car when purchased nearly three years ago I am 99 per cent sure that it will NOT be covered, this is classed as wear and tear, brakes, tyres, exhaust come under this category.
Agree with above, exhausts are a consumable item and not covered by warranties.
warranties normally cover engine, clutch and gearbox
Ask her to check the terms & whats covered in the car's warranty Booklets. has she hit a high object in the road? Eg Speed ramp?
If the car is used for a lot of short journeys the system will not generate enough heat to dissolve water that is produced in the exhaust system. Consequently, the system will corrode quite quickly.

My Mondeo is eleven years old, does regular long journeys, and still has its original exhaust system.
Wear and tear, I'm afraid.
