Not so much a question but a remark. I was following this old vehicle yesterday on a fairly quiet road, 4 blokes in it, top down, my God it could still shift up a gradual incline! Would today's cars with all the hi-tech engineering last that long?

Wouldn't have fancied that climb in a car with an old four pot side valve engine, corylus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Model_A_(1927%E2%80%9331)

Did it look original or was it a hot rod, corylus.
Question Author
It looked original but well restored, the body work gleaming but the hood (down) looked a bit iffy.
Could you tell if it had wire spoked wheels ( pretty narrow ), corylus.
Question Author
Couldn't see the wheels as I was following it, 4 jolly looking chaps in it, beards and whiskers having a great trip out in the sunshine!
How bizarre, my OH has just bought the chassis for that exact car, same year, which is about to become his next restoration project. He's recently completed a 55 Mk1 Ford Consul (and boy did that have ongoing problems).
Question Author
Just like Ford Tonyav, so many models! It was a black 4 seater, lots of mirrors on the windscreen and at some stage somebody had added flashing indicators to the bodywork.
What is the chassis for, Prudie. Roadster, coupe or saloon ?.
A Roadster apparently
Love to know what engine was in it, corylus.
Has he got any bodywork for it, Prudie.
He's not bought it yet but has sourced several options.

I was following it towards Holmfirth and Holme Moss, wondered if they were going to make the ascent up Holme Moss to prove that the car could still do the climb that the Tour de France cyclists will be doing next month when they come to Yorkshire, but it turned off the route!

I can remember as a kid our car packing in as we tried to get up this climb, steam pouring from the radiator and having to wait until it cooled and then coast/limp to the nearest garage in the village.
