Up is one of the best Disney films ever.  Up merely cements Pixar's reputation as the most intelligent and innovative film studio of the moment. This is a modern fable which is indeed uplifting and fun. If you love Toy Story and Finding Nemo this is a must have for the collection.

Carl Fredericksen (voice by Ed Asner) ranks among the most unlikely heroes in recent animation history. A 78-year-old curmudgeon, he enjoyed his modest life as a balloon seller because he shared it with his adventurous wife Ellie (Ellie Docter). But she died, leaving him with memories and the awareness that they never made their dream journey to Paradise Falls in South America.

Carl is a retired balloon salesman and has attached millions of balloons to his house pulling from the ground and with a young scout, Russell (Jordan Nagai), they set off on a once in a lifetime adventure.

Carl was primarily based on Spencer Tracy and Walter Matthau, because there was "something sweet about these grumpy old guys".

The film is Pixar's second highest grossing film worldwide, behind Finding Nemo. Up won two Academy Awards, two golden globe awards and it won Favourite Animated Movie at the 2010 Kids "Choice Awards".
