Message in a Bottle

The film did well at the box office and it was an instant hit with romantic audiences. The spark between Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn is unmistakable as is the depth and humour added by the inimitable Paul Newman who plays Costner’s father.

Despite its romantic theme the film is not sentimental or gushy but rather more hardened to the facts of life. The beautiful North Eastern US scenery is dramatically shot and is the perfect vehicle to express the wildness and desperation that lovers sometimes feel. Only the most stalwart of viewers will not weep at the tragic ending.

A beautiful and heart rending letter of lost love is washed up on a beach and found by a newspaper reporter. When she sets out to find the writer and know his story the reporter gets more than she bargained for as she finds herself falling in love.
