Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

09:55 Fri 09th Jul 2010 |

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a magical action adventure. The film is the third instalment in the popular Harry Potter series based on the book of the same name by J.K. Rowling. The ensemble cast is joined by Gary Oldman as Sirius Black, Potter’s godfather and David Thewlis as Professor Lupin.

With the series well under way now you would imagine this film, being in the middle, would not cause much of a stir, however, it was a big success at the box office. Audiences were now completely invested in the characters and settings and the story could take its time to unfold. The younger actors were justifying their casting by getting better and the stellar supporting cast gave the whole Potter world a believability that viewers really bought into. However, as with many book adaptation purists found the way the story differed greatly from that in the book as distracting.

The Prisoner of Azkaban finally sees Harry get some proper family in Sirius Black who is his parents trusted friend. Sirius is the prisoner and has escaped Azkaban which is the wizard prison to which he was sent unjustly. As usual the climatic scenes show Harry fighting for his life against evil.
