Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

11:08 Fri 16th Jul 2010 |

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an unusual romantic comedy. The title is taken from the poem Eloisa to Abelard by Alexander Pope, the story of a tragic love affair, where forgetfulness became the heroine's only comfort and a quote from the poem is spoken in the film. The film stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet.

The film was a reasonable success at the box office and many audiences were entranced by the romantic love story. The performances of Carrey and Winslet were outstanding and both played out of their usual genre. The film showed Carrey’s acting is as versatile as his facial movements and Winslet has more about her than the demure English Rose.

The supporting cast is very well stocked and includes Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Wilkinson, Elijah Wood, Jane Adams, and David Cross. The film’s mixture of real life scenes and flashback memories was cleverly done by director Michel Gondry and the subplot provides an interesting twist that surprised many viewers.

At the start of the film we see two people apparently at their first meeting but as their relationship develops it is clear that there is more to this couple than is first obvious.
