Annie Hall is a romantic comedy. Directed by Woody Allen who also stars, the film is considered a turning point for Allen as a move away from zany comedies. Starring alongside Allen is Diane Keaton who has partnered with him several times. A strong supporting cast includes Tony Roberts, Carol Kane, Paul Simon and Christopher Walken.

The film was a box office hit and won numerous awards including four Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

Audiences loved the screen time between Allen and Keaton and how we see their relationship develop. Diane Keaton brought her own style to the character including the clothes she wore which were all her own, Allen told wardrobe that she could wear what she liked.

Allen has captured the quintessential bitter sweet love story, this is what happens to all of us at one time or another and this brings the film closer to our hearts.
The plot is set over several years and details the lives and relationship between Allen and Keaton. It seems the two are fundamentally different and can no longer continue with their affair. Keaton moves to Los Angeles with a new lover and Allen chases after her to try to win her back but fails. He returns to New York to write a play about their love but at the end he wins her back.
