16:04 Mon 28th Jun 2010 |

An Education is a wonderful coming of age drama. Set in the heady atmosphere of 1960’s is based on an autobiographical memoir of the same title written by the British journalist Lynn Barber. With screenplay written by Nick Hornby and a stellar cast including Emma Thompson, Peter Sarsgaard and Carey Mulligan in the lead role.

If you love the sixties/seventies, this is a great film and if you lived through the period this will have memories come flooding back. A good little film which makes you think and reflect a little on life.

The film was just beautiful a refreshing change to the sex and violence which is so often served up on the screen. A surprisingly good film and you immediately understand why Carey Mulligan was nominated for a best actress Oscar she is a name to watch out for in the future.

An Education features an ensemble cast including Emma Thompson, Peter Sarsgaard, Dominic Cooper, Rosamund Pike, Olivia Williams and Carey Mulligan.

The year is 1962, and sixteen-year old Jenny (Carey Mulligan) is a cello-playing student who hopes to attend Oxford. A chance meeting with a charming man twice her age quickly develops into a romance, opening up an exciting, glamorous world to the young girl.
