If you were a 40+ female and you had to start again, where would you start?

How would you make friends that didn't involve going to church or joining a dating agency? You are not allowed to say social media sites such as Face Book. There is no prize for answering this question, I'm just incredibly bored and the dilemma entered my head:)

Quite a few women of my acquaintance have found friends through walking a dog. The dog itself is a good friend but no use if you would have to leave it alone for long periods.

Every friday night they're at the pub, you could join them, but circulate
in the pub.

I did it, creamsoda. Went to live in a new place where I didn't know anyone - got a new job - joined an amateur drama society. Built a completely new life.

PS - I don't know bored, I'm never bored, there is so much which is interesting. If by any chance I have nothing to do, which is very rarely, I sleep!

I wouldn't. I'm basically far too lazy and anti social. Think i'd just get lots of cats, dress them up as babies and wheel those round the streets in prams. <shrug>
