What was the incidental music played on "This World: Stalin's Return" (BBC 2 on Wednesday 2 December 2009) sounds very like the music from the Ipress File but more modern. Very Russian, with a tinny persussive instrument. Thanks

Hi belindajane,

I didn't mention Rachmaninov, that was reinganum !

The piece you're after is called Sour Times by Portishead.

Hope that helps.

Tell me where abouts it is in this link and I'll have a go at it for you.

Until we identify the exact passage in the programme (as Philtaz has requested) I can however tell you that in the last ten minutes we heard first, Rachmaninov's third piano concerto (first movement) and then, in the gulag sequence the third symphony of Gorecki.

Philtaz - It's not the Rachmaninov. The music can be heard at point 47.40 of the 59 minute programme. Thanks Belindajane
