Shouldn't this have stopped happening by now:

or aren't we as 'hip and tolerent' as we'd like to think we are?

How did the attacker know the victim was a homo? Maybe their should be a law about flaunting your sexuality in public. Just a few years ago Gilian Tailforth of Eastenders was prosecuted for doing a lude act in a car so it can also apply to all deviants.

He was walking with his partner when the two attackers saw him coming out of a gay bar.

The followed him, shouted abuse at him, beat him up (stamped on his head apparently) and he died a couple of weeks later.

Don't you think that reaction is a bit strong?

I mean...for walking about being gay?

How does that constitute a lewd act???

Did you read somewhere that they were caught performing a sex act?
I don’t defend anybody who physically attacks anybody for any reason.

So, as you rightly say, ahmskunnirt, “... No one deserves to die because of their sexual orientation.” But neither do bigots deserve to die.

Why is it, then that the "queer bashing" minority in this country are to be obliterated (which I understand to mean wiped out, eradicated, destroyed, in short, to die)? Do they deserve to die because of their bigoted views which are so extreme that they attack people whom they think are abnormal? Perhaps you could help me with this apparent conundrum.
I think the obliteration reference was probably referring to the mind set rather than the perpertrators.

they were "never to see the light of day again"

But I agree there did at first seem to be a bit of "Kill the lynch mob" irony there
Because Splat my darling, time is a very relative thing when it comes to the evolution of some of the pig ignorant, violent dunkards out there. You'll never get rid of them all... Even with my 'selective breeding' programne... (Apparently this limp wristed leftie has despot tendencies ;0)

I love the way that 'Gillian' has become a verb - as in to 'have a gillian'.

This is outrageous.

Regardless of one's opinion, and as a heterosexual I find the thought of having sex with another man as alien as having sex with a goat, and just as distasteful - the fact of the matter is that other people's sexuality is absolutely none of my business, and if it floats their boat then good for them (if my 1 year old son came to me in 20 years time and told me he was gay, I'd be absolutely fine with it), so why people feel gay people are ripe for a kicking beggars belief.

I do feel we are by and large a tolerant society and suspect this is a very rare occurrence.

I sincerely hope these animals are caught and sent away for a very very long time.

Fair enough.

Just a thought...what would the law against 'flaunting your sexuality' include?

How would it work? Would it cover straight people as well as gay? I'm REALLY not critiquing your response...I'm just curious as to your thinking.
I got queer-bashed in a gay nightclub.............doubly insulting ! :o(

A heterosexual bloke, more specifically......

Yes, I was innocent, as was my girl-friend. He had no reason what-so-ever to lash out like he did.
Gays parading their sexuality like a badge of honour is insulting to many. If they want to get up to lewd acts they should choose to do it behind closed doors. We don't want to know!
Lewd acts...........
rov1200, you never fail to amuse............
There is nothing lewd about two gay men walking down the street together rov, even if they happened to be holding hands!

Rov

apparently, according to reports, these two chaps weren't 'doing' anything other than walking down the street.

But even if they were sniffing each others faces off, wouldn't a reasonable response from those who find that kind of thing offensive be to look away, or at the most, shout "Get a bloody room!"

Are you saying that murder is a reasonable response? Don't you join us in condemning these cowards?

I honestly don't understand where you're coming from...surely you see murder over something so utterly trivial as wrong???
