I have bought loads of stuff, all prices, used from private sellers who just sell their unwanted goods, and brand new from business sellers who recognise eBay as having a huge market.
I had one problem only which was resolved relatively quickly with PayPal refunding my money in full.
I have sold a car for £4000 and that went very well.
If you go to a market, car boot or buy from classifieds you have absolutely no comeback if things go wrong. Ebay is safer, in my opinion.
Check the prices first - dvds, cds etc are often cheaper from Play.com, Sendit or the online supermarkets.
Check the cost of postage too.
Don't forget that even established High Street stores have their share of dissatisfied customers - and fraudulent customers, too. People are very very quick to complain and very slow to compliment.
Bear in mind you will not buying from eBay. eBay does not sell anything except advertising space for sellers. So don't let one bad experience with one bad seller put you off. There are millions of sellers and even Argos, Littlewoods and other big shops sell via eBay. Like this
