When we bought our home 37years ago .There is a clause on the deeds ,stating that no viecles are to overnight park on the main road on the whole estate..There are about 27 houses .and all houses have a drive and a garage.
A young couple have just moved into a relitive of theres house which next door to us ,with a white work van ,and insists on leaving outside the house ,on the main road .It not only is the main thing that we can now see through our lounge window ,but it also obsquers our view when we reverse out of our drive .
We have asked them if its possible for them not to please leave it there, and the reply was It a nice looking van isnt it !!!!!!!!
How do we leagely stand as far as the deeds, and what can do about getting them to move this van .

They have a driveway and garage, so they should be parking in their own driveway! Maybe they don't realise that this is set out in the deeds!..............In which case, you could tell them in a friendly way, that this is the case!.........

Are there any spaces on the drive for them to park?
You will have to reverse into your drive, you are breaking a traffic law if you reverse out onto a main road.

But how can the deeds to a property over ride road laws?
To be honest I think it's fairly unreasonable to expect them not to park outside their own house and the argument that you can SEE the van through the window is pretty weak to be honest. Just ignore it if I were you, it's really no big deal in the great scheme of things and I doubt you'll get anything done about it no matter how much you spend, who you complain to etc, so since it's really not a hanging offence I'd let it slide.
Remind them of what the deeds say as suggested by librarian,if no joy then a solicitors letter may help . Think you are going to have a long battle over this if these two measures fail, and you will definitely not win that easily. Am not a law person , so can only suggest that a low key approach may be best . Good luck.
Don't think that they are, ummmm.

All the deeds are saying is that they cannot park in the road overnight. Nothing illegal in not parking in the road.
Their reply; 'It's a nice looking van, isn't it?' says it all. Respect for their new neighbours seems way down their list of priorities.
So does that mean they can park there Judge?
yes, sandy!........sign of the times we live in sadly!............no respect for anyone.....least of all the neighbours!..........
Jeez...it's a vehicle. They are not throwing eggs at the windows.
But is it enforceable, new judge? I was under the impression that as long as you had paid road tax you could park anywhere except for where there are parking restrictions such as double yellow lines and obstructing a driveway so that the owner could not use it. I don't think the white van people are doing this so how do they stand with what was agreed on in the original deeds?
Whether we agree with it or not, does anyone know how sylvia goes about upholding the clause in her deeds?
Well hopefully NJ will clarify...
I think that if sylvia is determined to resolve this issue, then she will have to go to court to uphold the condition laid out in the deeds!........costly!......I would try toi appeal to the neighbours better naturel, if they have one!........otherwise, I would just forget it!.............not a big deal really!............
My neighbour took me to court as the deeds said that all window sills had to be painted every 3 years and the garden walls at the front of the houses had to be constructed using a certain stone.
My windows are UPVC and the stone is no longer obtainable.
The court threw the case out.

I would be very interested to see what happens.
Why Star. Are you parking your big white van in front of somebody's house?
The problem is, even if legally you can stop them, they could make things very unpleasant for you (if they are of that mentality).

Does it annoy/inconvenience you enough to take that risk?
Ha-ha ladybird, no chance, I haven't even got a bike. No. I am just your normal nosey devil and like to know what is going on.
