Toilet Breaks

When i am at work we work a 8hr shift 30mins for lunch and two 10min breaks now these are the only times are allowed to go to the toilet. Now i don't know if this is just me but this has to be against some law.

When you need to go you need to go.

I would have thought it's against health & safety, staff welfare, if nothing else.

It is against the law. Your employer can't stop you going when you need to.

There are plenty of jobs which make you get a supervisor to take over or they get someone else to take over your job.

In an office i can't see a problem, if you were on a production line in causes lots of problems.

there is no specific law covering this but any decent employer would allow a worker to use the toilet when they need to. The alternative is to pee on your desk which your boss would find much more inconvenient!!

do other members of staff get extra breaks for smoking??

that happened to me and a friend years back, the smokers got extra breaks in the morning and afternoon to go outside (which took about 5 mins to get out once past security and the long walk) so we started having our 'fag break' where wed' go to the canteen, get a sweet and come back to our desk. we got a row and weren't allowed to continue our 'fag break'!!
