I was bed ridden for a week with that flu type bug, my only week off work ill in ten years. On the Friday £70 went into my account instead of my usual wage. On the Monday back at work I filled in a self certification form and handed it in. This all happened about a month ago and nothings happened as a result. I'm just wondering (inexperienced as I am) what was the point, what purpose does it serve? I may as well of filled in a form for a driving licence or something for all I know!

The moral being to try to find an employer large enough to afford to value their staff enough to accept the cost of covering the occasional staff illness.

Unless your Company allows a certain time off sick for which they will pay full salary, you will only be entitled to SSP
