Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of renting a couple of rooms in my house to lodgers, does anyone know how much I can earn before I have to tell the tax man?

Thanks

Used to be £4250. Don't know if it still is.
you still have to let someone know for council tax
Only if she is claiming the single person discount. If she isn't, she doesn't.

Do not forget to tell your insurance company you have lodgers.

Just afriendly warning, i've just got out of the other side of having a really awful lodger in our house. Make sure you take a months money in advance and have a formal contract, you can get them in W HSmiths. :)
Bit late, but as someone who has let out rooms, it can be a nightmare have two at the same time. Not only do you ALL have to get on in the same house (not always the case) but two can double the feeling you get that your house is is no longer YOUR home. I'd start with one and see how you go.
