Hi all
My partners son (and another girl) were attacked and stabbed in an unprovoked assault at a party 2 weeks ago (wrong place wrong time).
He suffered a punctured lung and needed stiches on another 2 wounds, the girl had 3 deep wounds but only on her arms as she was defending herself. The police arrested the assailant a few streets away from the party.
My partners son is off work at present and will be for about another month.
Is there a criminal injuries board that he can apply to to cover his lost earnings and injuries?
TIA

The court which sentences the offender can make a compensation order against him, or the victim can commence a civil case against him but, as the saying goes, "you can't get blood out of a stone". (If the offender has no assets, he won't be able to pay any compensation).

Thanks for your reply.

However I've just found that my answer wasn't wholly accurate. (Sorry about that but at least I'm now the bearer of better news!).

I was thinking only of the 'tariff award' in relation to injuries but it seems that an award can also be made on respect of loss of earnings:

Please accept my apologies for getting it wrong initially!
