How many plants would anyone recommend to fill a half round wall hung basket.
Thanks for any info.

Stuff them all in. Most annuals have pretty small root structure and don't mind being cramped. In the compost, mix in some water-retaining gel crystals, and slow release fertiliser granules.
Water 2x a day in sun/hot days.
They will be great.

Depends on the type and size.

If they are going to grow big and need lots of water & nutrients, then generally no more than 2 or 3...

As a general rule of thumb.

Hope this helps
Personally I put a trailing begonia in the middle and trailing lobelia and babopa on both sides and I only use a very good compost with water retaining gel and food pellets inserted. hth`s

Thanks you both for your help. Now I know I'm on the right track. Hope we don't get another frost like last week. I was on holiday having left my plants out for a friend to water and lost about 50 :(
I don't know why but I've heard you should always plant up baskets, tubs etc with an odd number 3, 5 etc.

usual rule same as hanging baskets one plant per inch if diameter for half baskets divide by two.
Rowan .. you conformist : )
I put beans or strawberries in some of my creations : )
Me too, and sweetpeas do just as well hanging down as climbing up, I also use coloured lettuces and herbs,
Lysimachia nummularia

Good for left over small spaces.
I use it as "hair" on garden/wall statuary.
the sweetpea things look great. we're not gardeners and get our baskets from my elder sister, whose one of those people who only have to look at a plant for it to burst into flower. Last year when she made ours up she had some sweetpeas left over so she stuffed them in and we ended up with baskets that were the envy of the street
