there's no way of finding out online who the insurer actually is. It will cost you a tenner by post to get the information:

Alternatively (if you can't find the policy document) see if your bank statement shows who you're paying money to.

Agreed, but the Data Protection Act also gives everyone the right to see what information is held about them, simply by making a request. The organisation holding that information must release it to the person to whom it relates but they cam make an administration fee (of no more than £10) for doing so. That's why it will cost Maisie a tenner for the information if she can't get it any other way.
