Folks,

I purchased a a new Epson XP-202 about 14 months or so ago and I need to change the ink cartridges. Well according to the manual you lift the top of the printer to expose the innards with the cartridges at the right hand side....exposed. Well no. The empty cartridges are nestled under a plastic cowling on which are instructions on how to change the cartridges. When I press the appropriate button on the front of the unit the concealed cartridges remain stationary under the cowling, instead of moving, I presume, to a position where they are accessible. Can anyone advise me on this matter?

I have no luck with printers. My last one, a Lexmark, would not accept non Lexmark cartridges the first time I changed the cartridges. The printing head slammed to the right hand side of the unit, again under the cowling and refused to come out. I was advised by the local computer shop that it would be cheaper to buy a new printer rather than try and get it fixed. Hence the Epson XP-202!!!!! Help.

Try pressing and holding the button until the cartridges move. That worked when I had an Epson printer. Hope it works for you.
doesn't the plastic cowling lift up to reveal the cartridges?

douglas9401,

You are a genius. After about 15 to 20 seconds holding the button the cartridges gradually moved to the centre. I can't wail to get the Lexmark fired up again to see if works there too. It's little tips like this that makes The Answer Bank such a brilliant web site. Many thanks.
